Translation as creation:
A terminological issue in Kum?raj?va’s version of the Vajracchedik?
Praj??p?ramit?
Stefano Zacchetti
The Jingang banruoboluomi jing 金剛般若波羅蜜經 T 235, translated by
Kum?raj?va at the beginning of the 5th century CE, is the earliest and
most influential of the six Chinese versions of the Vajracchedik?
Praj??p?ramit?. No doubt it can be regarded as the Chinese Vajracchedik?
par excellence: almost all of the numerous Chinese commentaries devoted to
this scripture (which constitute a rich source for exploring the reception
of this text in China) are based on Kum?raj?va’s version. This paper
focuses on the use of the term xiang 相 in this translation and in some
related commentaries, showing how Kum?raj?va’s creative translation
technique exerted a profound influence on the Chinese understanding of
this Mah?y?na scripture.

我英文沒那麼好,不能解讀細節。
左冠明在會上說:鳩摩羅什有時將「sa?j??」譯為「相」,應有其用意,而不是錯譯
