葛瑞爾森

（Grierson, Sir George Abraham; 1851～1941） 英國印度語言學者。一八七三年以政府文官身分至印度，為印度語言調查會會長。將分佈於印度各地之一七九種語言，與其他五四四種地方語言作一歷史之實際調查，研究成果極其豐碩。數年之間（1898～1902）蒐集整理，著成 Linguistic Survey of India, 1903～1928，共十一卷，當中其所親自執筆之第一卷 Introductory 為全書之摘要與精髓，係研究印度語言與印度文化史之基礎書。其他著作有 A Handbook of the Kaithi Character, 2 vols., 1889；The Languages of India, 1904; The Piśāca Languages of North-western India, 1906；Bihar peasant life, 2 vols., 1925; A Dictionary of the Kashmiri Language, 1932 等，大多為有關印度語言之卓越論文。 p5595
